Songs of Light GOFUNDME is now LIVE!

Hello all! I just wanted to let you all know that I have set up a GoFundMe to try and make up the funds to get Songs of Light recorded, and mixed, by the Northern Film Orchestra. I have set the donation goal at £6000 and thought I'd outline where the money will be going to:

Firstly: Jack Hughes - the director of the Northern Film Orchestra - has given me an estimate of roughly £4500. Songs of Light is a LARGE work. Nearly forty minutes, and scored for orchestra and choir. In other words - this is a lot of musicians needing paid for their hard work. Furthermore, the woodwind parts are doubled, and therefore the flute section would require two flute players etc. So £4500 of the donations will go towards covering this estimate.

Secondly: I have allocated a £1500 buffer! As the estimate I was given was just that - an estimate, I wanted to be sure to have enough funding in case there are any bumps in the road. This could be that more recording time is needed, or certain movements need a bit more work done.

Thirdly: Included within the £1500 is also - provided Jack's estimates are stable and we don't go too much over - I would allocate some of the funding to soprano Nikki Eoute, of whom the work is dedicated. Jack's estimates cover the orchestra and choir, they do not cover the cost of Nikki's work and she would also deserve payment as she will have the difficult task of recording her solo soprano line over the Northern Film Orchestra's recording - or vice versa depending on how we work things out.

Fourth: A % of any remaining funds will be given to Euan Tait who very kindly worked with me on this song cycle as a friendly gesture, and as such I would like to see him paid for his beautiful texts, without which this song cycle would not have been possible.

The funds I am asking for are a LOT of money, and money is definitely tight for everyone, and that is why I wanted to layout where the funds are going so you don't just see a big £6000 number. You can see that number and visualise where everything is going! I want to be clear that I will not be making ANY profit from these generous donations. This recording project is to help boost my music, and to have a professional recording I can present on my website in the hopes of gaining future paid commissions.

I thank you all so much to everyone who has donated so far, and ask you to keep sharing! Share with friends and family! It really puts a huge smile on my face knowing I have people out there who want to help make this dream come true for me!
